AIUG Wish List 1994
Here (not in any particular order) is the Arizona Interleaf Users Group
1994 Wish List compiled at our March 1994 meeting. (These items are to be added
to those not completed on the 1992 list.)
Some of these items may be planned for future Interleaf releases already.
(And by the time you read this, we hope many have been fixed.)
Interleaf 5 Items:
- CGM filter doesn't handle hyperbolic arcs
- Need ability to convert from a table back to text with columns
separated by tabs (it is OK to loose any graphics in the cells)
- Enhance filter to ASCII so it preserves indentation format and columns
of tables
- Need to create tables within graphic frames and tables within a table cell
- Need to create a 3-column (non-graphic) component within a 2-column
document (more generally, need the multi-column function in any component)
- Need variable document column width (e.g. column 1 = 1/2 inch, columns 2
& 3 = 3 inches, margins 1 inch each)
- Need "table sorts" that work (sorting on any selected table
component, row or column)
- In graphics, need to create arcs that are real circles or 1/2 circles and
the ability to break circles into arcs
- Need math calculations within tables: sum of column, sum of row
- Create blank page without needing to create a frame as a standard
(non-option) part of the Interleaf product
- Make current blank page function configurable - only one format is
not sufficient
- Need variable content component option for "until next xxx component"
- Export header and footer separately from a catalog, not just "both"
- Rev track change in footer shows in older versions too - it should not
- Need tool to purge attributes which are no longer desired
- Allow inline component to be defined in the page definition, not just canned text
- Allow inline component to define the "value" of an "attribute"
- Need ability to export chart values to the document (perhaps as "ref's")
- Need better means to purge unused components: a) always work b) book level
- Micro caption "sized to content" does not always print all content,
clips some edges
- Table open rule on continue only works on first row - if first row has no rule,
need the open action on the next row, etc.
- Avalanche (now Interleaf)'s Proof Positive needs to spell-check within tables
- Proof Positive needs to work on newest I5.4 and I6 versions and on all platforms
WorldView Items:
- Make auto-reference in a microdocument in a frame become a WorldView hyperlink
- Allow user configurable and multiple hypertext marks
- Allow the "hyper hit" to be a defined area, perhaps a graphic or
an inline component
- Make bookmark entries when hyper link is within the same document
- Hyperlink to the acutal autonumber, not just the page
- Allow combination of notes from multiple collection locations back into one
for re-distribution (this tool may need to "sort-in" the others)
RDM Items:
- Make the query limit be user definable (the current "50" is not enough)
- Combine Revision New and Check Out Edit steps or make a user
combine option, usually want one after the other anyway)
- Allow different icons for different types of documents

Removing All Tabs in a Component
Here are two ways to remove all tabs in a component:
- Place your cursor in the desired component and strike CTRL-U,
F-11, Tab. (On some systems use Esc rather than
F-11.) A message will appear in the header confirming all tab
stops were cleared.
- Open the tab property sheet and select Scale. Type 0
(zero), click Enter, then Apply.
